Introduction: Primary dysmenorrhea (PD) is a pelvic pain during menstruation in the absence of any pathologies. This disease mainly affects young women reproductive age. In addition to pain, patients may experience many other symptoms including: gastrointestinal symptoms, sleep disorders. contributes reduction their mental and physical quality life.Purpose: purpose this review draw attention problem that large number society, often underestimated largely women's life, as well present latest discoveries reports on issue. Material methods: scientific literature published years 2017-2022 was reviewed PubMed database using following keywords: primary dysmenorrhea, dysmenorrhea.Results: Increased prostaglanding levels, abnormalities reward system, oxidative stress, ischemia, eotaxin contribute development PD. These findings could open up new diagnostic or therapeutic targets. The first choice treatment PD are NSAIDs, which taken regularly for years, so they must be safe effective aspossible. Research suggests thiaprofenic acid ibuprofen suitable. For alternative treatments TENS, heat, acupuncture can effective. Propolis, ginger, valeric acid, hops exercise also promising.Conclusions: varied women. It leads hence it necessary conduct further research diverse, group respondents, centers, with use systematized scales, lasting certain period time.
